I believe from info I have, that this model is a tro 20/25. Recently I notice that there are soot deposits on the path beneath where the flue is located.
Since discovery of the soot deposits, I have also noticed when the boiler fires up, a metallic rattle/clatter from within the boiler housing.
I am assuming that the boiler is not burning cleanly and wonder if the metallic noise is some sort of vent or choke.
Does any-one have any knowledge of these old boilers and advise a cure...other than a new boiler. :)

Parts can be found for this boiler. You don't need to replace it, just have it serviced by someone who knows exactly what they are doing.

The noise could be anything from a pump drive, to loose fan or even a baffle inside the boiler...but as said, you can get the bits.
Your boiler needs TLC - it must be as sooted up as hell if its messing up the path.
John :)
