Hi,

Just thought id bring this up, because in the instructions for RCBOs there doesnt seem to be any mention about if its ok or not... and online on various forums the oppinion is once again split if its ok or not.

Personally cant see any problem as long as a crimped ferrule is applied to the ends after trimming so you arent putting a stranded wire into the connections on the consumer unit.

Think it was Wylex I read that said its ok as long as a ferrule is fitted, but MK ive read say no.. cant see why though?

I'd hate to see a board done without shortening the tails - there's be a heck of a lot of 4mm wire in there - ditto all the earth tails. As you say, fit a ferrule on the end and it should be fine.

That's what I've done with them anyway.
Just don't shorten them so much that you can't move a breaker or re-use it if your setup changes.
