Trying to check potential boiler installer on gassafe

I’m getting quote for a boiler install; I know the make & model I want. I’ve had 4 quotes between 2400-2600 and one local guy quoted a more attractive 1900. His gassafe number is on the quotation but when I look up the gassafe number on the gassafe website, it gives the same business name (not a limited company), no address or phone, and a picture which I don’t definitely recognise (though I only saw him for a few minutes so maybe that’s expected). Does it sound dodgy? Should I be worried? Thanks for any helpful thoughts!

Same with British Gas.

It’s a company registration with hundreds if not thousands of gas safe registered engineers. When I had a quote from BG, I’m not even sure the 'estimator' was an installer - as far as I know, he doesn’t have to be registered to give a quote.

Just make sure you see the credentials of the engineer who fits the boiler. You could even phone the company up to tell them of your concerns and if they are a pukka company they should give reassurances.

No-one who's certified will take objection to showing their credentials (as they are required to do when asked)

As a registered gas engineer we can show or withold address phone numbers etc, it is up to the engineer what shows up when looking on the internet

I'd say the law of averages make the 4@ 2400-2600 more likely to have priced it about right.
