Hi!

I am removing the old extractor fan in my bathroom - the old has three wires - live, switched live, and permanent live. It is hooked up to the fan isolator.

my new fan only has two wire inputs. Permanent live and neutral.

can I use my new fan with two of the three wires which went into the old fan? And then wrap up on unused wire in electrical tape?

I purchased the two wire fan by accident.

thank you!

You mean - Neutral, Switched Live and Permanent Live.

No, it has Switched Live and Neutral.

Yes, wrap the Permanent Live - but it would be better put in a separate connector block.

You can nick a connector block from the old fan to put the spare permanent live wire in.

Your room, from its construction, may require a fan with an over run timer. Does it have any form if ventilation, an opening window perhaps?

Better to return the wrong fan and use a timer fan.
