Ukraine counter offensive

The Russians never ever committed enough troops to take a city the size of Kiev.
They didn't even fully surround it.

You don't remember a 40 mile long queue of failing tanks headed towards the Ukrainian Capital as a key objective of Putins lightning strike "Special Military Operation"?

Sure, they sacrificed a load of troops and equipment to get a sympathy vote.
What a cunning plan, you make yourself look pathetically incompetent.
(I meant Putin, not Vinty, when I typed that).

At this rate, the far left and far right will need to take Putins **** out of their collective mouths and accept that Russia is a tin pot third world ****hole
Is that why the EU and the UK need to borrow billions to prevent their respective economies collapsing this winter.
It wasn't long ago that some on this forum were gloating that the introduction of sanctions against the Russians would result in the collapse of the Russian economy and widespread suffering amongst ordinary Russians.
It seems their optimism was premature.

No, it seems your optimism is premature... almost any economist worth their salt can explain to you how the sanctions were always a long term solution, within 12-24 months the Russian economy will utterly collapse, whereas the EU/UK will shore up their economies, secure new energy supply chains and freeze Russia out for generation to come.

Russia has ensured the loss of their number 1 customer of their gas, the sanctions will cripple them, the war will deplete their surplus... wanna put some bets on where these three zones will be in 12 months from now?

edit: changed the time-frame, 6 months is too optimistic

Kim il Jung is helping out Putin with thousands of artillery shells

Reports also suggest that most of not all of Putins front line regiments are 40% down due to causal ties ??

Basically making them ineffectual ?? As a combat unit ??

Putins biggest worry / fear ?? Is masse internal dissent ??

For many years we were told and we trained to fight the "might" of the red army, and I feel misled, and wonder if those years were wasted.

It's a clown army.

If Ukraine had not resisted, it would have been overrun in a walkover like Czechoslovakia and Hungary, or the Crimean failure.

It very much looks like Putin misled himself into assuming a repeat

Not like Finland.

I don't think the Soviets expected a NATO capitulation without a shot fired

All credit to those who defended their country.

It was just a ruse so they could concentrate on the Donbas region ?

Biggest embarasment of the lot for them

We will end up with the russians mostly in the Donbas and Crimea, Ukraine will eventually take back most if not all the other areas, it's impossible for the russians to maintain such a large front with the demoralised troops and dwindling equipment they have, yesterday alone they lost over 50 tanks.

One would be I’ll advised to under estimate the Russian army ??

The Germans did that ?

Although the Germans were the aggressors / invaders

Did they ever intend to take Kiev?
Yes, they did intend to take KYIV. Note the expenditure (waste) of airborne special forces attempting to take and hold Hostomel as an FOB (Forward Operating Base). Thst cost the Russiand dear and they never landed a single fixed wing aircraft there

Why do you always take the Russian line? Are you some sort of old school coommie?
