When their Kyiv convoy got stuck in place. They weren't pinned down by fire for a month, they got stopped and their logistics weren't able to get them moving again.

Then eventually the lot moved and went all over the place. What ever problems they had simply disappeared. Magic. It's a fact that in large countries logistics is a problem but Russia is mostly operating near boarders or were.

I watched some footage that I found interesting. A Ukrainian preparing for an attack. For some reason he was wrapping something or the other around 1/2 dozen or so mortar shells near the fins. I wondered what for. There is another aspect and it applies to just about all of Ukraine's weaponry. It's Russian. This includes, tanks, planes and helicopters.

So if you see something stupid wonder about propaganda. Or accept it. It can be hard to be sure with all sorts of things we have seen concerning heavier stuff without knowing which specific model it is.

That they moved eventually doesn't mean they weren't stopped for the best part of a month due to logistics issues.

For historical analogies consider operation market garden. The paratroopers were successful then but otherwise the analogy is pretty reasonable.

I haven't seen this video but it could be them setting the charge level. How far the mortar round goes is a factor of the amount of propellant, which you wrap or clip to the base and the angle you have the tube at.

Other footage in woods mortars being fired with nothing wrapped around them so maybe what ever it was on the others does increase range. My other thought was he didn't have many of them and a Russian sone where may have an abacus counting usage and at some point shouting whoopee they are out of them. I don't just mean mortars.

The other aspect is that what appears to be happening is more along the lines of what Putin actually did say. That doesn't mean that they haven't found it more difficult than expected. Occupying all of Ukraine did not figure. It's never shown any signs of that. Kiev shows similar aspects as capturing in total would be difficult however it ties up troops and according to BBC numbers not that many of his. A lot of people left as well - a problem of sorts for Europe but gets them out of harms way. Mariupol which they clearly want has been handled entirely differently. Odessa is currently having it's suburbs shelled. Next of don't want it. Time will tell. Wrecking suburbs and small places outside larger one seems to always figure.

Perhaps war crimes should be applied retrospectively to a number of other places. Afraid I don't think the west would fair well. But I don't like war who ever is involved. People who have nothing to do with it really get killed often in rather large numbers.

After reading 3 times, I can make sense of it.... Does he mean they really get killed rather than are only reported as being killed, or did me mean "rarely"... oh, no it's not those...

So that driver at the front gets out. Hands in air and gets shot along with the occupants of the car. Drone footage. Some other bodies around, some show signs of wearing military uniforms. The Ukraine military do drive around in cars and vans. This is the sort of situation where shate happens. It seems this particular road leads dead west out of the centre of Kiev. Hence the tank.

I'm not making excuses for the people in the tank but they are there for a reason. Bodies burnt but no idea how long they had been there.

Yep, that's a war crime. Also known as murder. Deliberately shooting civilians is frowned upon.

The other way of looking at it is that the tank should not have let any vehicle within 500m of it going on figures mentioned in the UK. The range of the anti tank stuff supplied.

Also the word MAY was used by the BBC. I would have thought you might realise why.

Yes, they stick maybes on everything until it's confirmed in court.

The presence of a vehicle within 500m is not an excuse to destroy it. Especially if a civilian climbs out of it with their hands raised.

Its often BS when sountries say their weapons/radr can do this. that and the other often overstated ability.

Croatia isn't on a war footing so they would not be looking for it.
