You might. have a chance providing it`s not stuck up onto the ceiling paper using double sided tape as the only fixing - yes I have discovered such a thing.
I did hear tell of an instance of a smoke detector waking someone up thanks to being installed by that method - apparently there was a fire in a nearby room and some of the hot air had entered the bedroom around the ceiling area, the tape became goohy and the detector fall onto the bed and fortunately alerted the occupant even though the smoke detector had previously had the battery removed.
Quite a coincidence!
