Hi,

We have an understairs cupboard which is currently being used as a pantry, the side wall that has the door in it is brick built and plastered.

We are wanting to add an additional (smaller) doorway so we can have our freezer in the pantry, but to access it will be through the smaller opening.

Will the brick wall be supporting the stairs?

There is a solid/outside wall at the otherside of the stairs.

I'm just thinking it will be easier to remove the wall completely and replace it with stud and plasterboard.

Do you have a kite winder or a sub-landing complete with newel post at the top of the stairs?
