Just recieved the quote from UU regarding a new connection (splitting of a phase from a 3 phase supply from neighbouring property).

They have invited me to accept their quote but it is an awful lot of money for what they need to do (I have to dig the trench and lay the ducting).

I am I correct in my assumption that I have no choice as they are the only people who can carry out this work??

Regards

Dave

But never mind, its got to be done , so accept it I will.

Around £1600 !! (plus the cost of digging the trench and laying the trunking which I will have to cover). Far too much if you ask me....

The quote will normally tell you what works is contestable.

My DNO let you do plenty of the work if you want, but you have to make sure you use materials to there specification (and hence easier to get from them), and they will always make the final connection.

It is often alot easier to let them do the whole job - that price isn't tooo bad all things considered.
