Urmet 730 Handset Help

I wondered please if anyone could help. I'd like to replace my Urmet 730 handset. I can't stand the noise it makes, it's so loud and really makes me jump when it goes off. Does anybody know if this can be replaced with a handset that has volume control or gives out a different tone altogether? Is there anyway I can deactivate the buzzing sound or tone it down somehow? I read somewhere that it's possible to disconnect the wires to the buzzing function and then connect to a friedland facet, how easy is this to do?

Disconnect incoming wire to Terminal 7 and connect to one side of a 12Vac bell or chime. Connect other side of bell or chime to terminal 6-11-10 (linked)
