hi guys i have a problem ive fitted one of these boilers in my house and the problem being there dosent seem enough pressure in the flow and return as the majority of the rads dont get hot or even the drops donts get hot either would i be right in saying the bypass need adjusting , the boiler is sittuated in the loft and im concerned that i may need an additional pump to boost the system have any of you plumbers came across this also do you no of a diagram to fit a y plan circuit any help please

If you are unable to diagnose a simple problem like heating circulation then i would doubt that you would be competent to fin a gas boiler.

My advice would be that you should get a competent CORGI to check the safety aspects first and then advise on the flow problem.

If you have not bled air from the boiler first that will cause that problem.

Tony

hi again i am a qualified plumber and my friends qualified corgi its just i havnt came across this before to be honest its the first system boiler ive fitted the boiler was bled and no air in the system

You should not be installing boilers if you are not CORGI registered!

Why not get your CORGI friend to come and give you a lesson in balancing rads. That might be the only problem but it could be something else.

Try turning the hot rads off and see if the others come on.

You might find S and Y plan layouts on the Honeywell web site.

I take it you mean an ecotec plus 615

How high is the loft? 2, 3 storey? What pressure have you got in the boiler/system, ignore the guage tell me what it says on the digital display.

Where is the filling loop installed.

Never known of an extra pump being needed on a boiler this small. Leave the auto bypass alone, this is factory set and have never had to alter one yet! I take it you mean the built in bypass and didn't fit an external one

Have you opened both isolating valves fully?

Did you release the auto air vent screw?

Did you purge system using P 0?

hi thanks for the reply the house is standard 3 bed semi the iaolation valves are open the filler loop is i meter away from the boiler on the flow as it is out of sight and the boiler is not,the pressure is reading 1.4 bar before heat start up and 1.6 when heat is on as for the p.o program i didnt use this as it stated combination boiler only in the manual i just filled slowley bleed rads and opened the auto air vent on pump once running .and yes that by pass valve is the inbuilt one i was on about ,,i shall leave it be ..and yes it is the ecotec 615 system boiler i have

Firstly you have been kucky not to have triggered the heat exchanger overheat as you did not use P 0

All the ecotec pluses MUST have this used to purge them. If it is a combi then I fill up on P6 as well.

I do not think there is any problem with the boiler, 1.4 bar is plenty cold and 1.6 is spot on increase of pressure when the pump runs. If you didn't get this increase you wouls get a F75 fault code.

Has the system been properly powerflushed with the boiler isolated from the system?

If so I suspect you have a major air lock problem somewhere.

I would start again fill system, bleed all rads starting with the furthest away, top up pressure to 1.2, run P 0, bleed rads again. If you still have probs then back to basics, hw off, ch on, all rads but one off, shut auto bypass (count how many turns) and see if it pushes out air lock

cheers dave il do as u say as i was thinking of draining it again to put an air vent on the return of one of the drop as i suspect the air lock is there .. the pipework is 3 months old so didnt need the flush the bypass i take it it screw in to increase the pressure .right ill get it done tonight and hopefully let you no the outcome later many thanks

Forgot to add, Make sur you use P 0 as if the heat exchanger overheat goes it is non replaceable and means a new heat exchanger

ok ill use it but it does say in the manual , bleed test programme (conbination boilers only ! ) mmmmm

Don't believe everything you read in the manual  The heat ex and air probs are identical to all ecotec pluses, 400's, 600's, 800's and 900.

Only difference is the dv and plate heat exchanger.

Are you sure it is not refering to P6?

Also when your corgi mate sets it up with his fga make sure it is set to
SF 6 whilst taking the readings and ignore the MI's about 9% case off CO2, set it to 8.9% max
