Hi Guys / girls. I have a little problem when I depress the clutch on my van. When about half way down its makes whirring noise until you get to the floor then it stops. Does the same when releasing but stops when foot fully off. Had a old mechanic ( retired ) have a look & he said these were prone to being faulty and said it would need a new fly wheel, clutch kit & slave cylinder. the clutch does not slip at the mo but was told its only a matter of time. Any thoughts anyone ?

I haven't had much experience with DMFs but it sounds more like the thrust bearing to me. I wouldn't worry about it until if fails, the gearbox would have to come out anyway.

agreed touch wood mine thrust bearing has been like it for a while now at least 15000miles getting worse but till i loose the drive, it will be left. When it goes I'll change the flywheel clutch and thrust bearing
