Vegan babies

Yes the topic starter was designed to stimulate debate/discussion but even though both diets can be healthy balanced diets I see no convincing argument to add meat to your diet. I can produce reason why not to however.
Taste, you silly basket. Vegan baby eh, you must be really proud of his lifestyle choice.

But of course he is proud of his choice Sooey. Why else ask us to give our views.
Maybe he was unsure, and asked. Wanted a "balanced" view.

Are you not proud of what you do, even though others may not agree?

He has had the balls to ask others, and that even if we disagree demands a respectful reply.

I say again, no it is wrong.

I say the way my wife and my way was the best method of diet for our children. Both healthy, fit, intelligent ( go on rip me apart now :D) and not addicted to sugar or fast food. But avid meat eaters whom ask for veggies and eat copious amounts of fruit. And love sunshine (Vit D), what more could you ask for?

Peaps your wrong, but if your lifestyle and your childrens is as good as mine then we are both wrong.

But meat is GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD  Notice the teeth, thats why we have them

He's hypocritical loony fanatic who wants to "get his message over". Why do you think he's always on here starting topics about animal treatment? He's getting boring now, but you can be as respectful as you like. As for me, we are omnivores peaps, always have been, and apart from an odd few like you we always will be. Get over it.

My son in now 18 months old and is a vegan.

Wonder what people think about it.

Its your choice to bring your child up how you want.

In fact it is your legal responsibility.

Some might say he will miss out on some of the pleasures in life that an animal based diet can bring - bacon sandwhiches with brown sauce - fish and chips with salt and vinegar - chocolate - spaghetti bolognese etc etc

Some of thise pleasures like chocolate actually hit brain receptors.

Is there actually any research to show whether vegans suffer more mood swings and depression?

"Oh the idiocy" says I.  I'm not the one trying to put people on some kind of guilt trip by constantly starting topics about mistreatment of animals. that doesn't mean I don't have a right to reply to someone who is. And my reply was merely stating fact, no more.

http://nutrition-news.blogspot.co.uk/2011/02/vegetarian-vegan-diets-depression.html

Well actually it would seem the opposite is true...

Vegan diets or vegetarian diets can lead to less depression.

I guess it is the old scenario with brain receptors - artificial receptor stimulants cause natural seratonin delpletion and dependency.

ie eat chocolate and meat , salt etc and then without them you get depressed.

aparently switching to a vegan diet of not already one can be a depressing experience.

Lighten up, all that meat has made you uptight, maybe it's constipation? clearly it's bad for you, might want to check your blood pressure?

As to people like the OP, well I am a life vegetarian, I can tell you there are plenty of meat eaters who have no problem acting in exactly the same manor. I don't tell people I am veggie, but it obviously comes up in conversation when you eat lunch etc. Then people find it appropriate to start hectoring you about what you do.

The most recent example was at a dinner table, I ordered the veggie option, someone asked if I was "one of them", then very loudly declared "what a load of ****ing nonsense".

I just don't bother discussing it and don't really care about what other people do either way.

Just pointing out that people like the OP behave the way they do for a reason, imagine having people like that hectoring you every time the subject of food comes up.

Doesn't make him less of an annoying nanny, just saying.

I don't need to lighten up, nor do I have a problem with veggies, vegans vulcans or whatever. When they start trying to constantly shove their views down my throat (for want of a better phrase), I feel I have the right to tell them where to get off. If you think that's hypocritical, that's your problem.

You can always point out all these posts... I have joined in on threads others have started mainly.

when you ask the question about a vegan child you expect people to discuss it, if you don't want to then the thread description should be enough for you to say away.

You see vegan in the topic and can't help yourself but to have a go, doesn't smack of ramming anything down peoples throat

He may go onto eating meat later on, that's upto him but he is doing better than most kids his age. He's very healthy and above average size and hight, not fat. he's 2 and a half stone and not yet 18 months old and above average hight. Developing physically and mentally ib leaps and bounds.

He's got a good start in life, more than can be said for many kids.

Yea, but later in life he will suffer from crippling disabilities, bad skin, and likely developmental issues, why are you so selfish and puritanical, YOU ARE FORCING YOUR LIFESTYLE ON YOUR CHILD (froths at mouth).

I don't understand how others don't get bored of hearing these discussions and just avoid these discussions?

Are you a masochist peaps?

Behave peaps, you are a missionary trying to spread your word, that's why you are on here. You know it, and I know it, so don't start whinging and telling people to ignore you when you get a bit of flack.

Yeh I target DIY forums to convert the world to veganism

I'm all for constructive debate something that eludes many here

It never fails to wonder me how people get so wound up when you mention a vegan or veggie diet and they get it all wrong, every time!

I know, can't help yourself can you? The word has to be spread, wherever, whenever.  How many other forums are you persecuting?
Lovely kid, nice teeth, don't look like they evolved for eating just plants.
