It is a contemporary design, but will essentially be two side pillars and then a mantle across the top
Looking at these in the stores, they are generally flat boards fixed together, and so a joint is visible and its clear that they are 'boards stuck together'.
I don't want any joints to show, so I planned to make the shell up, and then veneer it afterwards. I'd make the two sides and the top, veneer them and then assemble them.
Is there likely to be any problems in doing it this way?
Also would 18mm board be OK or should I go for 25mm? And MDF or chipboard?
