Hello all

right straight away sorry if this is a stupid question but....

i would like to add an additional zone to our alarm, i think its an R8

is it just standard phone wire i need to run to the PIR?

also what type of PIR do i need

I'm pretty sure the alarm was reset not that long ago so should have default engineers code

No, not phone wire, alarm cable. Its different.

Standard PIR if its to be fitted in a normal room, ie not Conservatory, or Kitchen with an AGA fitted for instance.

Do you have any spare circuits? strictly speaking it should be one device per zone (doors can be grouped together, and sensors if they latch but thats another story ;))

thanks 9651

ahh i didn't realise alarm/ phone cable was different

phone being solid an alarm being stranded

cheers i will get some today

is the process of connect it to the alarm box simple?

Have you any spare zones before you start. Veritas have 8 zones usually, how many sensors do you have?

Sorry to dig this thread back up....

i havent gotten around to adding the additional zone on to our alarm.

do i just power down the alarm as it is, (power & battery) connect the new PIR as per the others, then power up the alarm?

really appreciate any input

thanks!

Well...kind of. Connecting it, yes, but it'll need programming. The veritas defaults to zones 5,6& 7 being omitted in a part set, so if you need it active when part set, then it'll need changing. Only mentioned it as you said you've only got 4 zones in use, logic being 5 is the next one.

you do have the engineer code don't you?
