Veritas extra keypad issue

Hi, I powered down, removed battery and added a second keypad, made sure the switch in the back was in up position for 2.
Powered up, went to original keypad and broadcast text under programmes.
My issue is that none of the user PIN numbers are working on the new panel . Their names are there , but not PIN numbers and all users were identified as null. I can’t add their numbers.
I tried changing them to user , it seemed to work but hasn’t. And now on original keypad the names say Null and I can’t amend and get a single error beep. And these codes no longer work now ! only codes that still work are the engineer code and master .
Please any assistance accepted.

So your using LCD keypads on the Veritas Excel/ R8 Plus.

You have broadcast the information stored in the keypad and you have the Text but you don’t have the codes.

Is any other programming missing, ie zones or part sets ?
When you say engineers code and user code left only, are they the default codes or new codes you have given it?

Hard to say.

But if user and eng code default values and you have lost the others then possibly panel has been defaulted hence the question and then to check the other programming you know you have changed and not TEXT.

The Veritas R8 plus/ Excel (same pcb different keypad), does not store TEXT, the LCD keypads do hence why you broadcast it to other keypads.

If programming is intacted, ie something you have changed long before adding the second keypad hasn’t defaulted then master user can reactive the users one by one and that should bring them online.

If it doesn’t then needs a deeper look by Texecom.

If the programming isn’t intacted then panels been defaulted possibly when you down powered to add the second keypad, in that case it’s reprogramming everything. If you had used the Veritas UDL software you would be able just to reinfect the programming.

Obviously making some assumptions there, but need to establish if other programming has been defaulted first, there are other ways you could of defaulted the system.

Remember Text is stored in keypads not the panel on the Vertias R8plus and Excel, so defaulting the panel doesn’t lose your text.

Hi, really appreciate the response. It’s a veritas excel with no keypad on the box, just the separate one by the entry. I have only recently installed the alarm and added the new keypad a week later. None of the user codes worked on the new panel, nor the recently changed engineer and master code. Just 4321/1234. The system registered the rkp as number 2.
On the original keypad just the new engineer code and master user worked and rather strange, just one other user.
So after posting this message, I thought I’d try a factory reset, have a glass of wine and forget about it until today.
The original panel saved the names of the users, but no codes etc.
I added back in the codes , reassigned them as users. Then went to new panel and it works fine!
So I think ‘switching it off and on again’ saved the day.
