Veritas V8 tamper lightafter changing keypad

Just decorated the house and the old RKP was yellow so replaced it. Powered down the system both the mains and disconnected the battery. Connected the new RKP, powered up and the tamper light is on contstantly and wont set.

Checked the connections and they are in the same place as the old pad, the dips switches are the same and the keypad is unsetting when the alarm goes off. did a walk test and all the sensors are working.

Dont know the engineers code but strangely when i removed the cover from the main box the alarm didnt go off. If I press and let go of the tamper sping in the main bix nothing happens, completely unrelated to the keypad but am completely stuck on this one.

It may be programmed for eng reset ...just try this ....power down again take spring off the tamper switch in panel
See if you can get a plastic cloths peg to clip onto the tamper switch and listen for the click , now power back up do you have a tamper light ?
Also have you checked the tamper spring on the keypad ?

Thanks, tamper spring in the keypad definately works, i take it i just pull the spring off?

switch on the tamper spring definatley makes a clicking nose but the alarm doesnt go off when i press and release it??

Sorry was I meant to power up with the peg on. checked for the click then took the peg off.
