Has anyone got or had a Vivitar digital camera.Any feedback would be appreciated as my father-in-law is thinking of getting one.

not me

there was a recent Which report on digital cameras, the Vivitar doesn't seem to be among them.

I can look up the best buy if you give me an idea of price. Or send him to read it in the local library.

Which best buys £150 - £200

Fujifilm FinePix F30 (small)

Fujifilm FinePix S6500fd (large)

Fujifilm FinePix S9500 (large)

Canon Powershot A710IS (medium)

Canon Digital Ixus 750 (small)

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W5 (small)

Fujifilm FinePix F31fd (small)

Samsung Digimax i6 PMP (small and thin)

Canon Digital Ixus 70 (small)

Canon Powershot A540 (medium)

Nikon Coolpix P2 (medium)

Nikon Coolpix L6 (medium)

Nikon Coolpix S6 (small and thin)

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W50 (small)

there are a lot, but I checked, these are all from the best buy list.

Used to work in Index a few years ago. I'd say around 50% of the Vivitar cameras we sold were returned either broken or because the buyer found out they were pants.

They are OK, but not the sturdiest.

Mrs Secure has one & I got Will one from Superdrug recently: a good price I'll admit, at £15 for a 3mp cam, but as I say, a bit plasticky. I noticed Superdrug had a Vivitar 5mp in the window today for £40.

If you are going to spend £150 - £200, you will be better off sticking with something like Fujifilm or another decent camera brand.
