Hi - as part of a kitchen install, I’m looking at installing an induction hob with an integrated downdraft extractor.
The only thing I’m not sure about is that this will then extract the air thought a duct at the bottom /back of the cabinet, through the wall to outside through a wall vent but the vent would only be about 400mm off the floor.

Is that allowed and are there any regs covering that? I’ve never seen one that low before so not sure if that’s how it should be done. (I know it can recirculate but I’d rather extract outside if possible)

Thanks in advance for any advice.

The only regulations for vents are the Gas Regs, and siting within close proximity to boiler flues.

Otherwise there are no problems with siting an extract vent lower down. Just be aware of duct sizes and number of bends, which reduce efficiency. And a cowl may be necessary on the outside, with a anti-back draught shutter and for protection from knocks.
