Our wallstar oil boiler seems to be completely dead. It definitely worked for a little while tonight as it's still warm, but didn't do much heating, and I think it's broken cos I can't get it to kick into life by telling the central or water heating to start.
There are no lights on it at all, I'm sure there should be one light on all the time and another that comes on when the boiler starts?

Is it likely something's just tripped it out? Or some other component has failed? I've checked the obvious things like fuses, and taken the cover off and I can see nothing obvious like burnt out wiring etc

There's no such thing as probability of an MCB tripping.

Do you have a multimeter?

Have you verified that a 230V (+/-) is reaching the boiler?

does it have a high limit stat?

otherwise do you have a stick?
its safer than trying to use a multimeter on mains ac 230v

at least you can keep warm by hitting it
