Got a Ravenbeat combi installed under warmfront seven years ago by company which sub contracted to one man and his builder's cleavage, a chap so inept (but well meaning) he put templates on upside down, and basically wreaked havoc in the home. I had to sneak my elderly mother out into a hotel to avoid the carnage... The system has broken down repeatedly ever since, is no longer covered by warmfront helpline (contradiction in terms) and we now use eon policy one. I am sick of the boiler, it's under pressure, then over pressure, rads blow hot and cold, impossible to now take a bath, and so on, umpteen bits replaced, last chap did expansion pressure and fitted a new filling valve which is really iffy.
I'm tempted, as about to take redundancy, to rip the whole system out and start from scratch with one of the Remeha (?) systems as looked at forum and they seem ok.
Are they still all right after the merger with Baxi? And how do I find a really good installer in Lancashire- Blackpool area? Remeha sales team reckon it'll be about £1500 all in but I really want a peace of mind system.
We're both not in great health and my widowed Ma's got heart problems, diabetes and now needs dialysis, so it's important we've got a reliable system. I now own the house (as a result of another issue she had, don't even go there!) so we're not eligible for further warmfront aid, and frankly, if they 're still using the same contractors, would rather not.

Expect to pay £1500- labour on top of the boiler, rads, pipe, fittings, inhibator, programmer, room stat, etc etc

sorry but you will not get a boiler rads and fitted for anywhere near £1500

were all radiators new 7 years ago? what size pipework is connected to the rads?

Hi, all new seven years ago but this guy made a lot of mistakes, had an inspector eventually who ordered a lot of re-work. some quite scary errors hence my distrust of the system, but could be an over reaction on my part. copper pipes leading to rads 1.5cm.

don`t go full ahead with full install, the system itself might not be as bad as you think, if the rads look ok ie no rust coming through, paint peeling off then they might just need a flush out. as for the boiler, virtually anything can be fixed/repaired! wherabouts blackpool area are you?

The boilers a heap as you have found out, suprised it lasted as long as it has. Wouldn't go ripping the whole system out for it though, could be a lot of un necessary cost involved.

Get someone out to give you some sound advise about existing system. I always recommend vaillant but there are other boilers available which are equally as good (not worcester though :D )

Usual Ravenheat ****e, I took one out fitted by Warmfront, it was 3 years old, it had 10 leaks all Ravenheats, a blown PCB and the programmer was nacked as well, Ravenheat weren't interested, fitted a Optimax with 5 years warranty.

You aint gonna get an old system ripped out and a whole new system for £1500.00, I'd want £4 to £5 grand

if you are looking for an excellent installer in your area then a bloke called Tim pudick based in Preston is your man. post on this forum as The Baker

YIKES. Well, that's telling it is, I suppose. Even if it's unlikely to appear on the side of works van.
