At the risk of personal ridicule its purpose is to leave a gap free in the sink where your plates etc can be rinsed thus not polluting your bowl with cold water, now, time to rearrange those flowers!

well, we haven`t got a bowl any more and to be perfectly honest the sink department now seems to run even more smoothly. 
We have a metal basket which fits in our sink.

they haven`t even got a secondry use like putting at the side of your bed when you feel a bit iffy after a night out

2. better at retaining heat;
3. quieter;
4. good at accepting scratches and bangs that would age/disfigure a sink surface.
What are you putting dishes in a tumble drier for?
