I have a 13 channel hikvision IP CCTV system model DS-7616NXI-K2 / 16P. I have only now after one year figured out how I can access the cameras remotely from within my network because before I was getting blank screens like in this image.

It required me to enter my IP address of the NVR (which I knew) but none of the cameras would show until I installed a plugin to my chrome brower called "Local Services Components". The link to the plugin is here however Chrome gives the normal security warnings says this is untrusted etc etc.

I know HikVision is Chinese and I'm using this for a commercial premises but is this risky downloading this plugin and is there no other way to view my cameras on a desktop computer (I have it on my app on my phone already).

The NVR is on your network, if you have concerns about the Chinese government nosying around you should have it on an isolated network, preferably its own network on its own internet connection.

Then where it can look is restricted from the off.
