Well done wind

Not so much wind on Tuesday

So we had to burn extra gas to fill the gap.

Shame.

Since 2022, Chinese companies have announced plans to invest at least $227 billion in green manufacturing projects outside the country, according to a report co-authored by Sahay. It’s a staggering number that the researchers pointed out compared favorably in scale to the U.S. post-war reconstruction funding in Europe under the Marshall Plan. China’s project is equally, if not more, ambitious: to reconstruct the global energy system. @ Politico

Strategic Energy informs The Global Wind Report 2025 by the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC) confirms a historic milestone: the top four wind turbine manufacturers globally are Chinese. Goldwind, Envision, Mingyang, and Windey lead the rankings, consolidating China’s dominance in a market increasingly reliant on Asian production.

We didn't trust china with our telecommunications infrastructure so why trust them with our energy.

If we stuck H-man on a top of a large pole, Stylite style, then popped a hat like this on his head and let him spout hot air all day like he always does, then y'all could increase the amount of energy gathered tenfold.:p

Wind at 29% just now

And solar is 12%
Not much, but every little helps on a chilly winter morning.
More than Battersea Power Station used to produce.
But with no smoke.

Might be more by lunchtime

I’m sure your hero’s the Reform party would trust any Chinese investment, if the price was right.

They are very happy with Russian money

It’s no cheaper for you and I to buy ☹️
The retail price of electricity varies, over time, with the wholesale cost. You buy electricity from a big lake, into which the various generators pour whatever they can sell. The suppliers pump it out, and sell it to you by the bucketful. It is all mixed together and you can't buy a bucket of pure gas electricity or pure wind electricity.

Wholesale electricity from renewables is on fixed-price contracts, at prices significantly lower than the price from gas and nukes. So the more of it that comes from cheap renewable contracts, the cheaper the wholesale price will be. When renewables are not enough, higher prices are offered to suppliers that are not on fixed price contracts, to turn on their machines and make a bit more.

I'm sure you know that, really.
