Well done wind

what %age would it be, in that case?
No idea, I’m not trumpeting wind power usage or starting threads about it. Ask windy John, the expert, but I doubt he'd answer you - he never does when challenged on things he's glossed over to make a point.

It's really not. The French grid never runs at 10% nuclear. Think before you post.

I did think, I did spot that didn't make sense but the French country icon was odd, so I went to the site and clicked the button. That button takes you to the French grid page where nuclear power is around 45GW and 80% of the load.
It's impossible to say when you post a screenshot but no link.

It had a France icon on it, therefore assuming it relates to France is reasonable.

I really can't work out what this post is trying to say, can anyone help?
I’m saying that just like his premium bond wins and his investment successes, John has yet again cherry picked a piece of information and clearly refuses to show his source and no other information to show context. It is therefore a pointless post. Can't think why other than he possibly has investments in wind power companies and wants to talk them up. He certainly wasn’t bothered about the environment when he bragged of making "a hundred trips a year" by car from Greenock to London to "visit friends and family".

Going back through this thread, am I right in thinking that windbag John is crowing that wind power produced the greatest percentage of the UK's power needs during the night when no fecker needed it? How about showing the wind power percentages when the demand is regularly at its highest?

You need a really stupid person not to understand that every extra kWh of wind power feeding into the grid is a kWh less required from the gas generators.

Cherry picks what posts he replies to as well.

That's really doesn't come through from that post.

As for the non ad-hom bits:

If you can't work out the source from a screenshot that has the source name in it and that's been used multiple times in this thread before that's on you. It's like you complaining someone hasn't told you who made some tyres when there's continental written on the side.

I did a quick check and that screenshot was about average last month. There's a simple version here: https://www.gridwatch.templar.co.uk/ and a more configurable version you should be able to Google for if you really wanted to check spot performance for the historical data.

No, it is reasonable to question it as it is definitely odd, it's not reasonable to jump to conclusions which is what you did.

I'm assuming you don't pay much attention to electricity generation so not knowing that the French grid is mostly nuclear is understandable.

And could you really not work out the source? It had the name on it and it's the definitive source for this sort of data.

I would have liked a time reference but that's something you can guess from the time of the post.
