I must be going mad - I thought I had this sussed.

In this pic, the plug is wired exactly as it should be, and so, I thought, is the trailing socket! But is it?

If you were to plug this plug into that socket, the live pin would connect to the neutral and the neutral to the live!

What's going on? Surely the socket is incorrectly marked, isn't it?

The L & N markings aren't over the correct plug pins with the guide card in place, as shown. When you remove that card, and place it in front of you next to the plug, then it will match up with the view you see looking at the back of the plug with the cover removed.

Damn! Of course! Now you say it, I can see it! I woke early this morning worrying about this.

Cheers for the illumination.

It's a bit late but...

Aren't the Line and Neutral in the socket the wrong way round?

edited No - my mistake - I'm looking at it the wrong way round.
