If we all new then what we no know, I wonder what jobs we would have.
You do have to remember that a lot of people are not capable of being trained to be a doctor, come to think some people just dont want to do anything.

But others are. There should be a Krypton Factor type tests geared towards the skills necessary to become a doctor rather than, "Your Dad's a doctor so welcome aboard".

I didn't realise GP was a heraditary title.

FFS joe you do talk utter carp at times.

But you are amusing.

Who would you go and see if you where ill ? a nurse. a paramedic, the pharmacist in your local supermarket.....no you would go to your GP just like the rest of us

Only after he'd Googled the symptoms so he can try and tell the Doc what's wrong with him and then bleat on about how much they get paid for doing so little ;)

I bet GP's REALLY love people like Joe

If they don't know their stuff before I go in - they certainly know it afterwards.

Funnily enough two of our GPs have a father who is a GP. It's the way it goes, it's the 'Old Boys' Network'. I'd love to know why you think GPs are so knowledgeable. Don't you ask questions (that they can't answer?) They really are poor when you get down to the sub atomic level.

To try and compare GP's and Paramedics would be like comparing apples with oranges.

Paramedics are specialists in the first stage treatment of emergency medicine, they keep you alive until you can be transferred to Doctors for proper treatment ... Their acedemic requirements and training is minimal in comparison to Doctors.

GP's are generalists and are responsible for the on-going well being of their patients. This is not just about "I'm not feeling well today I'll go and see my GP" as this is only a small percentage of what GP's do ... But 100% according to ignorant people such as Joe-90.

Who else is going to take care of patients in the community with chronic diseases such as Asthma, Diabetes, Respiratory and circulatory problems never mind obesity, child heath, geriatric care etc etc.

This is the core bread and butter work undertaken by GP's NOT the morning surgery for people wanting to pull a sickie.

Do not listen to Joe-90, what he knows about GP practice you could write on a postage stamp.

i do not want to be bashing GP's but i still dont think they are worth five paramedics.

apples
i looked back and it was actually you who compared sporting wages.
i agree with you in that but now we have to change the world :)

i just wanted to stick up for paramedics who are just as specialised in their field as GP's, and work in conditions which have real life and death stress involved every day rather than once in a while.

i dont believe joe on this. doctors are clever sods who deserve credit because im sure most could earn more doing something else.

Not if you get sick after 6pm or on a weekend. They are too busy watching Eastenders or sleeping or playing golf to worry about anything else.

Are you (or have you been) a GP megawatt? Is a member of your family a GP? Why do you think you know so much about them if you are just a sparkie?

A GP earns up to £250K per annum - that's 10 times a Paramedic. But who's got the tougher job? How many road accidents with dying kids does the GP attend?

They are right at the top of the earnings tree and do very little for it. Pay hardly any tax either.

yep and I got a disproportionate number of them for customers

A GP earns up to £250K per annum

er no they dont - dont believe everything you read as usual, plus I earnt UPTO 250k last year

They are right at the top of the earnings tree

no there not

and do very little for it.

in your opinion that is

Pay hardly any tax either.

hmm hardly

At least we agree on that then.

BTW how can you dispute the earnings when the info comes from a group of accountants that specialise in doctors?

Joe, you`re a cracker ;) just the sort of person I enjoyed banter with , in the site mess hut on a poxy winters day like today ;) And thanks to modern technology, we can do it in the warm+dry
