I've a door that's come off it's frame as the screws seem to be in to the plasster/brick behind the door frame rather than in to as block of wood that should have been mounted there for the purpose.

The screw holes have become enlarged (door has been on the receiving end of the 4 yesr old's tantrums!) and now the screws just fall out and the door falls off...

What's the right goo to squirt in to the holes so that the screws grip again. Hard enough to hold them, but soft enough so that they do screw in.

Any ideas?

Leigh.

I would hammer in tight plugs of dowel with lots of PVA glue, allow to dry then cut off flush with a very sharp chisel.

Then I would start again with new pilot holes and refit the hinges.

Neat solution. Hadn't thought of that - cheers.

Now where's me 8 mm dowel and drill?

Squirt some PVA into the holes first so that it spreads out and stabilises the whole area of damage.
