What happened to the 'element of surprise'?

It was done so that the civilian population had time to get clear of the area, to allow Taliban waivers to run away and ensure that only the hardcore were left behind to be slaughtered.
But won't the Taliban just stop the civilians leaving ie use them as human shields?

Also, there is no way that the Taliban will have the fire power and technology that the coalition forces have - it's not the way in which they fight. So why on earth do the coalition believe that any member of the Taliban will stay to fight? Either way, it sounds a stupid thing to do

Eggzactly, against the modern weaponry they don't have a chance albeit they are fighting against the worlds most advanced armies and have given it a heck of a fight.

They have no proper weapons and no equipment except old tinbombs :p
and no air power at all.

They should have been gone long ago, but this aint no ordinary fighter.

'The Element of Surprise' it would seem is a 'Kraft'!

Kraft U-Turn As Cadbury Factory To Shut
Up to 400 jobs could be lost after Kraft Foods confirmed that Cadbury's Somerdale factory near Bristol is to close by 2011.

The plant was to be shut by Cadbury but new US owners Kraft had pledged to keep it open.

However, it has now admitted it was "unrealistic to reverse" Cadbury's plans because they were "so far advanced".
  What a surprise!

One way of "hurting" Kraft would be to boycott it's products. Every little helps :!:
