What happened to the UK fading out incandescent light bulbs?

Have not been able to find 150 watt bulbs for several years however.

First hit on Amazon:

Well I pay 13p per kWh plus a service charge of 27.4p a day.

At least I can replace them with LED's

Similar to most people. However, if that 975W of kitchen/diner lights were on for an average of, say, 6 hours/day, that would work out at about £278 per year to light just that one room.

It sounds like the situation I inherited when I moved into my present house. Many of the rooms had multiple light fittings, each with multiple 60W candle bulbs fitted - such that, like yours, a good few rooms had not much less than 1kW of lighting! The first thing I did was change all the 60Ws to 25Ws, until the entire lighting system was rationalised. Now, some rooms that once had nearly 1kW of incandescent lighting probably don't have much more than 50W of LEDs!

You can get them on ebay.

The everready ones don't seam to last long, although it could be a heat problem in the fitting

I had some Ever Ready R80s once.

They didn't last very long either.

50W GU10 lamps in my kitchen (all 17 of them)

either you have a restaurant kitchen, or an exceptionally poor lighting design. 850W of lighting is absurd.

Does it include downlights and spots?

Maybe they're used for cooking on?
