What have you been doing today?

Have lost 1.5 stone in hospital basically sitting and lying in a bed.

Have just spent my first day at home. Was told a week last Monday that I could go home. It's taken a week to get me home. It wasn't NHS ambulances that brought me back, but private. Meanwhile, you can go on a private ambo website and ask to hire an NHS ambulance??? Seems a well messed up system.

What really made me angry was not so much that I couldn't go home, but that there were literally people lining up in the corridors of A and E below waiting for beds, some elderly and frail.

And I sat there for a full week while an incompetent system failed to get their arses in gear and get me home.
Good that you’re home for Christmas.

Thank you everyone, bless you. Appreciate your good wishes.

I'm still bed bound, but I'm home.

I have a hospital bed in the lounge. It's not ideal, as the lounge is in the middle of a reno. It has no rads, so is cold, is half stripped, and only has two sockets, as most have been removed to allow dot and dabbing of walls.

I can't get out of bed, but I can shuffle to the commode at the end of the bed.

The ideal room was at the back of the house but the bloody bed wouldn't fit. I had privacy there and a view of the garden. And the room wasn't upside down.

Instead, I'm at the front where everyone is wandering up and down the pavement and I don't have a nice view of greenery and need curtain closed to have a tom tit.

Still, it's home!

Ding ding, round two. All round ours today. Turkey in bottom oven, ham in top one. Next job, peel the spuds…..

Spaniels are such lovely dogs, I see quite a few cocker and springers on my dog walk (not sure If I’d know a Sprocker), but they are all the ones I’ve seen are lovely, friendly dogs. Not necessarily easy dogs though, high energy, especially those from working stock….can be far too much for a domestic pet.

It’s gonna be proper hard work looking after 7 puppies for the next 8 weeks, you got your work cut out.

Had the kids and grand kids round for tea today. I’m knackered! Non stop cooking and clearing up. Decided to take a photo and video of us all at the table and what better way to do it than with my drone. A couple of them were pooping it though!

Had a nice T shirt table present from my daughter - one with Susie on it.

Having a go at resurrecting my earlier, not so old, HP laptop...

It began acting strange, gradually dying. In the final stage, it would only boot to the BIOS, then died completely, would not switch on at all, despite fully charged battery, and on charger.

Testing the drive, that showed it would spin up, but no access to it, so I made an assumption, the laptop's internal PSU had failed, taking out the drive. I got another drive caddy delivered today, so thought to take another look, confirming the drive was dead, and managed to find I had made a backup of the drive, on another. So thought to take another look at the laptop - it booted into the BIOS reliably, so put the working backup in and it booted to Windows, but wanted an Outlook password, still happy, it then wanted a Google??? password, correct one still didn't satisfy it, so it went to an SMS - round the loop, multiple times, several SMS's and a couple of hours, to finally get into Windows, but I got there in the end...

Now, just letting it update itself.

We had something similar in reverse - our granddaughter was born on our dogs birthday - 31/5. I joked to Mrs Mottie that at least we would now be able to easily remember our granddaughters birthday but that didn’t go down too well. :ROFLMAO:

Went out on the final shoot of the year with the farmers. More of a pìss up and a walkabout with guns than a shoot. Those young farmers sure can put the booze away. We actually flushed a Muntjac and I’m surprise nobody took a pot shot at it!

and it was desperately slow. The Original HDD, WD Blue 1Gb had failed, this one was a Tosh 1Gb - onto which, I had cloned it, long ago, just in case, but the Tosh desperately slowed the system down, despite having a 16Gb Optane SSD in there. It was taking several minutes to boot up, and be ready to use. So earlier in the week, I ordered a 500Gb WD Blue SSD, to replace the 1Gb Tosh.

Yesterday, I cloned from the Tosh, onto the new SSD, using Macrium Reflect, installed the SSD and gave it a quick test, before bed. This morning I spent more time testing it, and timed it booting with Hibernate., 15 seconds, from pressing the power button, to ready to use.

Had to pop up the workshop to turn the water off, open all taps and put the heaters on to stop the pipes freezing in the upcoming cold spell. Had a sweep up of all the leaves that had blown into the yard and swept the whole lot of them back out into the street for the council to collect. They came from their trees so they can have them back! Popped round my mates for a cuppa and a chat and showed off my drone. Took some video and some aerial shots of his house for him as he has an extremely large garden in East Ham and is currently applying for planning permission to build a house in his garden.

Had another bugger of a time getting the Golf's frozen tailgate open this morning despite going out last night and making sure the seal was dry. Eventually got it open using one of Mrs Motties boot pulls - I hooked it under the bottom lip of the tailgate and gave it a good pull. When I tried to shut it, it wouldn’t latch and I thought I’d buggered the latch but looking closer, it appears it's been the latch that’s been freezing so I’ve been outside fiddling about until I couldn’t feel my fingers anymore, stripping off the hatch panel, freeing off with WD40 and then squirting oil everywhere. I’ll find out tomorrow morning if I’ve been successful.
