What have you been doing today?

Why did I choose a 500 piece

After a few weeks of hearing nothing, I looked in my NHS app and there was the booking form for the x ray. The locum perhaps should have given me that? Anyway, it said that GP referrals had to be booked by the patient and gave several locations to choose from. Of course, every phone number rang out and it was during the junior doctors strike. I thought I’d leave it until after Xmas so would try again today. I was out walking when the telephone numbers became live at 9.00 so Mrs Mottie phoned up for me. She had no luck either but on the off chance, she phoned the new well-being hub that had recently opened near us. When she said it was a GP referral that I had, they checked online and found that I had at least been put on the system for an X-ray so they offered me an appointment….at 3.00 this afternoon. Right time, right place - again!
Thought it was too good to be true! Phoned up last week, still hadn’t had the results. Looked in my NHS app today, no results but in my past appointments, it said I had a consultation with the doctor at 4.10 pm on 16th Jan to do with my knee problem. I bloody didn’t! Phoned up just now, they say they have no record of any appointments other than the one on 8th December. They now have the results back but I’ve got to phone back to book a telephone consultation with the doc after 4.00 today. Can’t book it now, have to phone back at 4.00. FFS!

Update. Phoned back at 4.00, on hold for 15 mins. When I got through I was told that all telephone appointments for tonight are gone. Told to phone back at 8.00 tomorrow. I said I would but if all telephone appointments are gone again, I said I’ll be wanting a face to face appointment. Annoying!

Been to the chiropodists this morning. £45 and two corns lighter. Bliss! Forgot to phone the docs for an appointment at 8.00 so I've got to wait until 4.00 now.

Went to a travelling railway type museum/event on a train this afternoon. I only went because (a) It was free and (b) it was parked at platform 1a at Upminster station which is the end of a line that I’ve never seen used in 35 years. Just as well as it was just a 5 minute walk from my house and it was as boring as hell! Worth every penny of the admission price……

Popped across the road when we came out of the station and went into Roomes, our local department store to see if they had any clobber in the sale for our upcoming cruise. Found a nice Gant cotton shirt for 50% off and tried it on. Mrs Mottie pïssed herself laughing, said it looked like a blouse and if I bought it, I should consider getting a flowery skirt to go with it! I put it back on the shelf.

I've been on the Ezetimibe 10mg for a few weeks, the distressing side effects from taking the statins, have almost entirely gone, but the knee and elbow problems, which appeared on taking the Ezetimibe 10mg, have simply got worse, rather than better. Stiffness once I get to bed, then on a morning my knees and elbow joints are locked up solid, painful to free them, takes me several minutes before I can get out of bed, then I'm fine for the rest of the day - weird.

I had a phone appointment with the doc today, and he said to stop them for now, see if the problem clears, and he will organise another appointment to ring in a couple of weeks. He was talking of maybe getting me an appointment, for a cholesterol clinic, to look at other options.

The seized up elbows and knee joints, since I stopped taking the ezetimibe, have gradually declined, so I'm blaming that problem firmly on the ezetimibe

Fitting replacement batteries, in a couple of radio synched digital clocks, just waiting for them to get themselves synched now. Their displays were beginning to fade.

Clearing a partially blocked jet, on one of the rings of the gas hob. It's the most used ring, and an identical size to another one. Comparing the flame size, it appeared a bit low, and it has happened before, so time it was checked and cleaned. A length of 5amp fuse wire is the perfect size to clean gas jets, and no risk of damaging the jets. Got that sorted, put all the tackle away, and she pointed out a second ring, which she thought needed the jet clearing - doh!

Together with Mrs Mottie, we did a litter pick down our road and in a couple of the closes. Picked up any litter on the pavement, in the gutter and in any front gardens and bushes. You wouldn’t believe the bags of dog shít we picked up that people had bagged and dropped in bushes. Disgusting.

Gave the car a wash and vacuum out - first one this year and only the second one from new.

Had a full Wedgwood dinner set that we found when we cleared Mrs Motties mums house before it was sold. Never been used - Mrs Motties dad got it for 25 years service at Fords. She'd had it in her loft for at least 25 years but mrs Motties brother and sister didn’t want and it was literally going to be skipped. It was only taking up space in our house so I ran it down to our local charity shop - hopefully they can get something for it - there must have been near on a thousand quids worth of stuff there but there’s no call for it these days and you can’t even put it in a dishwasher. Shame, but too good to just chuck away.

Dug out the last leg of our Christmas Turkey from the depths of the freezer and I’m going to make a turkey curry for dinner tonight.
