What have you been doing today?

Sitting on my arris in front of a computer clicking the mouse. Earning for the taxman. Made about 45%, which is the sort of figure which got me addicted in the first place. Writ about in't stockmarket thread.

Picking up the mail, there’s some junk post that reads :”What good has ever come out Nazareth?”. Love Hurts wasn’t bad, I thought to myself.

I finally managed to finish a very detailed book, I bought and began reading, a few weeks ago - described as a 'novel' which detailed a series of three local murders, potentially more, in the village where I live. It all began, years before I relocated here, but the bodies were being found, and investigated, after I moved here. The author, claimed it was a novel, based on events, not naming actual people and places - but it went into great detail, about the police investigation, and all the names and places were the correct, in incredible detail, and verifiable ones, some known to me. Not until the epilogue, at the end, did it suggest the author was personally involved in the police investigation, and working with the key figure running it, at the time.

A friend, now in Canada, father's surname was mentioned in the book as a manager, and witness, so I had to email him and ask. He wasn't aware of him as a relative.

It all happened in the mid-70's, and yet the book, not published until a couple of years ago.

My dad and his brothers were mentioned in a book about the east end. Silvertown in particular. Apparently they were…a bit of a naughty family

Took us about 40 minutes at the finger scanner queue in Tenerife airport. When I put my passport on the screen, it didn’t do anything other than tell me to go straight to the gate (it did that last year in Malaga too) but it took a scan of Mrs Motties fingerprints and face!

I was very busy at the time, mostly working away from home, and so never really took much interest in the case, at the time. The first I knew about it was, me homeward-bound, at my usual brisk rate, along a narrow country road, just 1/2 mile from home, I crested a hill, and there ahead of me - police cars almost blocking the next bend, JCB's SCO, and etc.. They were digging the first body up, in some woods, alongside the lane. Nowadays, they would have warning signs out on the road, for safety, but back then - nothing.

That grave site (now empty) is still there, marked by a headstone, and flowers.
