What have you been doing today?

Finding something to do while sitting in front of the fan. I have one of my fixed ISA's maturing in early July so looked around and opened up another 1 year fix with Lloyds and set it all up for a transfer out from the maturing ISA into the new one. Also, my 2 year fix for my gas/electricity was ending in July so took on a 14 month fix with British Gas. That’s about it for my days work! :ROFLMAO:

Cutting the grass on another of our communal patches we have taken over at the top of our road. We created and tend to a garden area and the council gifted us a large planter that we grow communal herbs in. The person that normally cuts it is away for 6 weeks so I said I’d do it in his absence. It’s no 5 minute job like my own garden! I’ve come home for my tea and to charge up the communal lawnmower and I’m going back to finish some verges and pick up some rubbish. That tree you see is a walnut tree, I get loads each year from it.

Aw cobblers. Nearly finished it but just not quite enough charge in the battery so I’ll have to go back again tomorrow just to tidy things up. Quite a few people thanked me for doing it and one elderly lady came out and offered me a tenner towards the upkeep! I didn’t take it though, quite a few people chipped in towards the mower and spare batteries and it only costs us our time but it was nice of her to offer. She does her bit for the estate anyway and has had a book swap box in her front garden for years.

Went to a classic car meet up this morning had a few interesting chats

Saw a fully restored Mk 1 ford escort van rare as hens teeth apparently there are only 11 registered for the road in the UK

Seems like you have a good community spirit going on there. It's amazing how a small group of caring people can lift an area.

lucky you, I don't think i have any fans

They offer free swimming sessions for the over 50’s in Havering. You have to have an account and book through the Everyone Active app which I have. Tried to book for a swim today and it was asking me to <splutter> pay! I phoned up and asked them why that was and they said the free session availability must have dropped off my account so they reinstated it. Booked it again, free and I also booked for next Monday and Tuesday too.
I’ve been a very naughty boy! Planned and booked to go yesterday and today at 2.00 but around 10.30ish yesterday I had a call from the estate agents saying it could be likely that contracts on the sale of my mums house would be exchanged this week with completion on 10th July. I’m away on the 10th so was going to see if it could be completed earlier - I don’t want a very substantial sum of money sitting in my current account when I’m not even in the country so it was all systems go to get the other half of my tools out of her shed along with some other bits and pieces. I cancelled the swimming session and thought I’d go today but I was still moving stuff out at 2.00 today (I forgot about all the stuff in the loft) when I got an email telling me that as I didn’t turn up for my free swimming session yesterday, I had been fined £8! If I didn’t pay, I wouldn’t be allowed to book any further sessions so I paid up but I’m expecting another fine tomorrow for missing today’s session. Bugger! Mind you, in a way I’m glad as it is to prevent people making block free bookings and taking up places that others can book although as soon as I cancelled yesterdays session, that place (number 12 of 12 places) became available straight away and those on the waiting list would have been notified. My fault though, I’ll just have to not book any more sessions if there’s a chance I can’t make it. Rules say you must give 4 hours notice of cancellation and I clearly didn’t. I still have to make another run or two tomorrow and that’s without any of the furniture being touched - I’m hoping the new buyer will want them F.O.C. otherwise that’ll be another rush job.

Another day, another fine! £4 this time. I looked carefully and it’s only £4 anyway for a no show - they charged me twice by mistake yesterday so I phoned up and got today’s fine quashed as I was already £4 in credit. Still got an email telling me how naughty I’d been though.

We've been tidying up decades of papers in our office.

The recycling bin has never held such weight!

Good job it's being collected tomorrow.
We still have loads more to go, but we've made a massive dent in it.

Bringing more stuff from my mums house that’s all got to go so I’m doing a boot sale on Sunday. Already brought a ton of tools, toolboxes, jacks, axle stains, engine support cradle, oil sucker, a dustbin full of overalls, boxes of new safety boots, shelving, heaters, hot air hand driers and a whole lot more that I cleared out of the workshop before we sold it.

My Dad died 10 years ago and in the shed was various drills, sanders, skill saw, strimmer, chainsaw and many old-school hand tools.

My mum was a bit of a gadget lover, in fact, we got the vicar who conducted her funeral to mention that she would be sadly missed by friends, family, Amazon and eBay which raised a laugh and helped to briefly lighten the mood. From the house I brought back:
Breadmaker
George Foreman grill
Electric can opener
Electric knife sharpener
Electric fan heater
Juicer
Bosch toaster and kettle
4 slot Dualit retro toaster
Electric meat slicer
Tens pain relieve machine
Heated vibrating pain relief belt
Sony digital camera
Unused camera tripod
Karcher pro carpet cleaner
Remote controlled tower fan
Vax cordless vacuum with every unused accessory under the sun
2 pressure cookers
An indoors cleaner broom type thingy
Plus many other items I can’t even remember now but most of these things were either unused or used a couple of times. Mrs Mottie gave them a wipe over and said it was like an episode of the Generation game!

I’m going to start sorting through my loft tomorrow and then start loading the Tucson up on Saturday in preparation for a 4 am departure on Sunday. Feck knows how I’m going to get it all in - may need to do a second boot sale.

Did an early morning food shop at Sainsbury’s and saw this in the car park.

No workmen about so I took a photo and told customer services. They weren’t the least bit interested. On the way out, it was all gone including the rubbish so I can only assume a tradesman may have been tidying his van, forgot them and came back?
