What have you been doing today?

The car got scraped in Mrs S's work car park. While in to get fixed, we had a courtesy car. On the way home on Friday, the guy in front of Mrs S reversed to let someone out of a side road and bumped into her.

He knew he'd done it, as he looked in the mirror, but then he just drove off...

Mrs S reported it to the police as a fail to stop.
Today, they emailed to say that as there was minimal damage and no injuries, they were not going to take further action against the driver and were closing the case.

What??
You should have used your race card and said they shouted racist abuse at you and you would have had an armed responce descend on them

This was at Mrs S's work place. She left the car early in the morning and didn't see it until she left in the afternoon.

I’ve had that happen to me several times before although it was years ago. In both instances, they gave me the registered keepers name and address in case I wanted to take the matter further at my own expense.

Was it the hire car damaged or your own? If the hire car, just give them the reg and let them get on with it. If it was your own, you can chase the owners insurance company through the MID. Costs a tenner to find out who insures the car and you deal through them.

It's a long story!
First, our lease car got scraped at Mrs S's work.

She was reluctant to go to the police straight away. Security told her they'd got it on film but they talk to the driver when they were next in.
Cue the next appearance of the driver (a student), he was quizzed by security and he denied the crash. Denied parking anywhere near. Even denied being the driver.

Until security told him it was all on film. Then he had to fess up.

We did give his details to the insco, and they are chasing him on the basis that he is the at fault party.

Same with the courtesy car. We reported everything to the insco and as far as we are aware, they are chasing the other driver.

But, AFAIR, the RTA 1988 hasn't changed. It's a criminal offence to fail to stop after a collision, so I don't understand why the police are not looking to prosecute.

They offer free swimming sessions for the over 50’s in Havering. You have to have an account and book through the Everyone Active app which I have. Tried to book for a swim today and it was asking me to <splutter> pay! I phoned up and asked them why that was and they said the free session availability must have dropped off my account so they reinstated it. Booked it again, free and I also booked for next Monday and Tuesday too.

While digging deep, and I do mean deep under our understairs cupboard to find my sports bag to pack for swimming, I found a pair of boots right at the very back under the first step of the stairs. A pair of long forgotten hiking boots. I knew they wouldn’t have been cheap as I tend to buy decent footwear but when I looked them up, feck me! I must have bought them as <cough> 'workwear' when I was running my business. ;)

I can’t even remember putting them there but all they need is cleaning and waxing and they will be good for this autumn/winter season.

350 before discount is about right for a decent pair of walking boots.

You want good support, a decent sole (I find Vibram very good) and excellent waterproofness.

Had a lovely lane swim. I was in the slow lane as that was the only place they had left as they only allow 12 in a double lane. I used to go in the medium speed lane but as I hadn’t been for some time, I might need to build back up to it. I only did 40 minutes anyway. Funny thing though, as I hadn’t been for a while I had to have someone verify my age to make sure I was over 50. I passed. Just! ;)

I go in the slow lane. It's not free up here, but I have a discount card.

Despite being in the slowest lane possible, there's one grouchy git who always shouts get out of my way...

I always say to him...do you want me to go in the extra slow lane?? Hey, I've got a great idea. Why don't you go in the next lane?

He never does.
