What have you been doing today?

I wouldn’t mind but I got a contractor in to clear the contents of the shed but on the day, I said to leave the bench and the paint as I thought whoever bought the house would appreciate it.

Quite unbelievable how some people are, the furniture that you have left looks like a great starter set for any first time buyer who should be over the moon. Fancy saying you don't want the bench or pots of paint thats left over and to come and remove them.. Jeeez I know exactly how I would handle that one.
 
Started the grand clear-out of the accumulated crap in our loft - Trash out Tuesday we are going to call it. Filled the rear of the Fiesta up to the roof today and took it to the tip. Extra space in the loft? Not that I can see! Oh well, a journey of a thousand miles and all that.

Mrs Mottie has gone to a class on 'Learn to crochet' as she wants to crochet some different toppers for our post box(?) so while she's doing that, I’ve hooked up two hoses and have been watering the postbox bed in our road that we have adopted. Dry as a bone and I got fed up running back and forth with watering cans. Given it a bloody good soaking and topped up the bird feeders too. Any money you like, the weeds are going to pop up in the next couple of days. Grrr!

Next job will be to cut back all the wisteria that’s invading from over the fence but I’ve had enough for today.
 
From the experience of my parents in law, these days, when you sell a gaff, you have to be very specific about what is included in the sale and if the buyer doesn't want anything, you HAVE to remove it or they can have it disposed of and charge you for it.

When I spoke to the estate agent and told them I had left them a house full of furniture and that I thought they were taking the proverbial by demanding that I removed the bench and paint, she said that perhaps my solicitor should have reminded them of that and she was surprised when I told her that my solicitor did not know about that and that the furniture was not actually officially included in the sale, it was only offered to them as a gesture a week before completion. They gladly took everything. When I told her that, she said "Right, leave it to me, I’ll sort it" and I assume that she has got on to the buyer and reminded them of how ungrateful they were being.

Sorry to be 'that' person but you should have ...

- Put a brief advisory letter through all neighbouring properties no less than one week in advance, telling them of the plan to lay the hose across the road.

- Advised the local council roads dept. of your plan.

- Arranged temporary traffic lights and appropriate signage.

- Covered the hose with an adequate rubber mini ramp.

- Ensured the plastic hose housing reel isn't left as a trip hazard.

... and it appears as though you've done none of this. Disappointing tbh.
