What have you been watching lately?

Just watched 'falling down' with Michael Douglas, I'd forgotten what a great film it was.

Yes, a brilliant film. Far better to watch these oldies than to be brainwashed by the likes of "The Crown" and "His Dark Materials".

Watched the film again the other night, I'm still not sure. I'm a big Ray Winstone fan, and Plan B is good, but.........

Haven't ever seen the new film. Appeal of the original series and two films is Thaw, Waterman, the era, black humour and cars. Remove any one of those elements and the new film might just as well be called something completely different. Original can't be improved on.

Haven't seen Winstone in many things, but Scum is quality. Really enjoyed Falling Down too, seen it at least twice.

Re watching Death in Paradise at the moment. Tomorrow will probably be The Vicar of Dibley because my stepsons girlfriend watched an episode last time they were home and now wants to watch the whole series, especially the Christmas Special sprout one.

You are being brainwashed by the BBC. All their programmes, from heavy to supposed "light entertainment", contain the message.

I despair.

The Sweeney and Minder were great; drama and comedy together. I don't like such films as "Scum". Scum was plain nasty and signalled the way a lot of British films were to go from then onwards.

Another opinion is that it was not the film "Scum" that was nasty, but the conditions in institutions that it depicted. I understand from the producer that he could prove every event he depicted had occurred in one or more of them, but he was criticised for showing them in a poor light. He originally worked on a BBC production, but it was not permitted to be broadcast.

Not the sort of thing that the public want to know about. Better to keep it quiet.

Very strange comment. I "am being brainwashed by the BBC" because I like a comedy series they aired 26 years ago in 1994?
Obviously you NEVER watch BBC, (or listen to their radio stations etc), in case you too become brainwashed.
To have such a broad blanket opinion of something is a very sad way to live your life.

Festive is with me. I know it’s subtitled but Parasite is a work of art. So many twists turns. Funny Tragic. No wonder it got best film at the Oscars.
Half way though you’ll have forgotten about the subtitles. Try it!

Yep, I watched that through. I really expected when I began watching it, that I would ditch it ten minutes in, but instead it held me to the very end.

Scum had no sublimal messages or lead to altered thinking etc..Just a film of a particular genre, maybe it had a message of behave yourself or you end up in Borstal and life is hard. This Is England was a very bleak film in parts,,but then life is bleak too in parts.Kes,Cathy come home,trainspottin..etc..Rita Sue and Bob Too..Hilarious in parts..

Yes, apart from the last 2 episodes.

Kennedy ;)
I finished it yesterday. Thought I’d picked the wrong channel when I saw the start of episode 1 on series 5. Of course, Mrs Mottie couldn’t have picked a worse time to come into the room. Reminds me of the time I was flicking between the fishing and porn channels. She said 'For ****s sake leave the porn on, you know how to catch fish!" :D
