What have you been watching lately?

All those races i mentioned are seen in the modern British population, so if advertisers are falling over themselves to be "inclusive", why are they only including West Indians and Africans?

Only?

No white people, you say?

Z'anyone seen the film "The Founder", about Ray Kroc? Good film. It's a morality story, or rather an immorality story.

For anyone who doesn't know, Ray Kroc was (not quite) the founder of McDonalds, in that he took over the company from the original McDonald brothers.

He was a highly immoral man, but he used the legal system to advance his immoral enterprises. The film shows that the law, which derives from morality, diverges from morality when it is paid to do so!

queen's gambit on Netflix !!

I will not normally watch a serial, experience suggests they are usually padded out to much for my taste - but as a (one time) chess player I thought to give it a whirl. I watched 2/3rds of it before becoming bored and giving up.

We finally gave up looking for an advert which solely consisted of the ol a typical Caucasian, 2.4 children and a dog/cat family. It seems no such thing exists anymore. Not even a set of parents of the same English background.
I think cousins getting married is frowned on, unless you are in southern USA

I've watched it 2 or 3 times, great film. I sometimes question my judgement, how can you make such a riveting, entertaining, enthralling film about...Hamburgers.

Yes worth watching, interesting true tale. I tend to prefer films based on actual stories, to pure fiction.

I found an interesting true one tonight on the Firestick, it was Italian in Italian with subs. From Netflix 'Rose Island'. I managed with a bits of help from the subs, to follow the Italian, until it stopped streaming, then swapped over to Netflix itself to search for the film, which offered the English dubbed version.

Aaah that reminds me of staying up late watching subtitled French and Italian films on telly! There are so many great films outside of the Hollywood bubble.

"Betty Blue" is an absolute classic of films with subtitles. (No, it's not pornographic).

Yes, lots of them. I remember some years back one channel would often have a subtitled film on for a weekend. I have a look for the BB film. I'm no prude, but do find most pornographic stuff is just lacking, selling itself mostly on being simply pornographic.

[EDIT] I have just looked up BB and I have already seen it - yes, quite a good film.

You will have to travel back to earlier times for something like Oxo ads or the original version of the Ready Brek ad in the 'Funny But Not Funny' thread.
