What have you bought today?

Few spares for my tonka truck - rusty gold!

Another project? I must have missed that. Come on, spill!
Bought myself a cool little Suzuki jeep in the summer as a winter project, it was only cheap at £500.

However parts are in short supply (it is from 1982) and a few rarer bits I needed came as part of a job lot, so my man maths thought it would be a good idea to buy that job lot :D

Nice. That’s an unusual front on it. Looks strangely rugged. Is this the one before the Jimny?

Just renewed the insurance on the Fiesta. Fully comp, in Mrs Motties name with me as an additional driver. Renewal price was £347 with Churchill. 2 star defaqto rating. Got a quote from Darwin via moneysupermarket.com 5 star defaqto rating, £279 plus a £15 pre-paid debit card so I went with them. Both companies are owned by Direct Line. I’ve had this before with different companies being owned by the same company but giving different prices.

The first of Mrs Motties Christmas presents. A John Lewis beauty advent calendar. You normally have to get your orders in around now for beauty advent calendars as they can sell out pretty quick. A calendar with 25 numbered drawers to open, one a day up until Christmas Day and each drawer has at least one beauty item in them - make up, perfume, hair products etc and they are very good value but you have to give it to them on Dec 1st. The John Lewis ones are £250 but that contains 1160 quids worth of items if they were to be bought separately. A nice selection of things for them to try out throughout the year that they probably wouldn’t buy for themselves.

Last year I saw Martin (money saving expert} raving about the Debenhams one for ladies and what good value it was so I took a punt and it made Mrs fillys Xmas.
Think from memory it was about £120 but claimed a value of over £700.
She still talks about it and the quality of the products so I guess one of those will be on the list this year.

Alternatively, I could surprise her with a set of alloys for the camper.
