What have you bought today?

Last year I saw Martin (money saving expert} raving about the Debenhams one for ladies and what good value it was so I took a punt and it made Mrs fillys Xmas.
Think from memory it was about £120 but claimed a value of over £700.
She still talks about it and the quality of the products so I guess one of those will be on the list this year.
Looking back through my posts, I think last year was the only year I didn’t get her a beauty advent calendar since 2021as she still had loads of stuff left from previous years.

Just looked at the Debenham one, £120 with a retail value of £549, I'm sure it was £750 last year. I might go for broke and look at the JL one.

Well that was quick. Ordered it yesterday and collected it today from my local Waitrose. Well packed! Just had a quick peek and it’s got tons of stuff in there - 41 items in 25 drawers. Right, while Mrs Mottie is out, I’ve gotta pack it back up and hide it in the loft until December 1st.

Brilliant, each year you can re use it and fill it with other items, or sneak back in the ones she hasnt used.

LoL. Any items that are not used by Mrs Mottie because they are too 'young' for her are taken by our daughter or daughter in law. We cleared out the loft a few months ago and there were 3 empty ones up there from previous years. I put them on our local Facebook group and some lady asked for them to make up advent calendars for her girls. There’s plenty of empty ones of all makes on eBay for up to £25.

Added to my tool collection with a Dewalt 54v Angle Grinder kit with a couple of batteries and a charger. Good deal with Dewalt at the moment where you can claim an extra 54v 9ah batter for free...which are north of £100. Also ITS had it's own offer where, if you spent more than £500 on Dewalt, you got a free 18v tyre inflator...also worth over £100. Happy days.

Bought a couple of tickets to see Tom Allen at Cliffs pavilion on October 23rd - 2027!

Going anywhere that involves leaving the house for more than a couple of hours in the next few months is off the cards when we get the pup next week unless it comes with us as we going to have to treat it like a new-born baby. On the other hand, we will have to take regular enforced leaves of the house, starting with 10 minutes absences and gradually increasing them so that the pup doesn’t get separation anxiety, gets used to being on its own and doesn’t become a howling barker when we are out. Oh yeah, and no making a fuss of it when we get back in. Memories of training Susie to do the same are coming back…….

We have now got boo trained that way. We kept going out for a few mins each time over and over throughout the day. Picked up our keys then sat down rather than go out so she didn't get stressed with us picking up our keys, same with coats and shoes, we kept putting them on then not going out. She now ignores us doing any of those things and is happy for us to leave her for a few hours. You are right about not making a fuss of h er when you come home, we ignore boo for 10 mins before fussing her.

Bought our first years pet insurance for Peggy with LV= today. We pick her up on Thursday but I’ve got the insurance starting from the end of October as because she is a registered pedigree, she comes with 5 weeks insurance from the kennel club. We’ve opted for £10k lifetime insurance with a £75 excess. Came to £285 which is not bad - I bought it through TopCashback so getting £45 back on that purchase too. Most other pet insurances want @£200 excess with up to 20% of the balance!

£285 per year?

Yep. Was going to get £4K’s worth, same as we had for Susie but DlL is practice manager in a vets (too far away for us to go) and she said if you’re referred anywhere, £4K will get you practically the first few scans/xrays/mri's etc only. No treatment. She advised £10k.
