Cheese and mushroom omelette. I left the butter in too long before adding the egg, it burned and the omelette looked all black and 'orrible. Tasted okay though….

Need the energy today. Climbing all day. This is a welcome and needed break

Sausage and mash with a yorkie pud, kale, onions and lashings of gravy last night.

Bacon, egg and beans banjo. Mrs Mottie has gone out with her mates tonight so I was just going to have a bacon roll. Then I thought I’d chuck in an egg. And then I saw half a can of beans in the fridge so I thought why not. Big mistake. Very, very messy to eat and I should have just had the egg, bacon and beans on a plate with a buttered baguette. Oh well, live and learn.

Avril is having a lunch out with the girls, so it's just me, and I don't fancy much today anyway, but she's offered to make it when she gets home. There is some battered chicken, in orange sauce, leftover in the freezer, from a Chinese meal, so I suggested turning that into an omelette, without even checking whether it might work. A bit of research, and yes, it does work - so it's orange chicken omelette, chips, with a salad for tea. Wish me luck?

According to Google, the acidity of the orange might curdle the eggs.

Myself, I've always thought chicken with eggs seems a little odd. Simple and full of protein though (y)

That does sound a bit weird. I will be interested to know how it turns out?

It was a bit weird, though it went down... Never again!

Today, we had pulled pork, in BBQ sauce, baked potatoes and a salad. The pulled pork was exceptionally good, not a trace of fat in it, such that I commented on how good it had turned out. Avril says it came from Lidl, whereas the pulled pork we'd had before, with great gobs of fat in it, came from Iceland - say no more.

Avril away for the weekend, the first time she has been away overnight, since we lost the dog, leaving a big hole - awfully quiet in here on my own :(

There was some frozen, leftover roast chicken, so I made some myself, a chicken, mash, roast potato, yorkie, peas and gravy dinner.

Exactly the same here Harry. Mrs Mottie is away with her mates and I don’t even have the dog for company. I'm keeping busy but I haven’t spoken to a single person today. You certainly feel the house is empty when the dog's not around anymore.

Harry and mottie should have gone to a rave or something :-)
