Hi, I'm trying to work out the length of steels needed from the plan (attached). This is dictated by the amount of bearing required. The steel in question is highlighted in yellow.
Not sure why the SE put in 215 x 215 x 140 padstone on the right and a smaller padstone on the left. I will put in the 215 x 215 x 140 padstone for both sides.

Its a 9inch solid wall.
The nibs will be cut back from 600mm to 225mm.
The overall width of the room is 3550mm and opening will be 3100mm.

Should the steels need to fit the entire surface length of padstone(215mm), So I should order length of 3100 + 225 +225 ?

After a bit of research, some blogs say only 100mm bearing is needed whilst others say 150mm, so a bit uncertain.

Thanks

SE should specify the bearing length as it will have dictated the size of padstone required
