Windows gaming PC bought for the nephew isnt being used because his friends are on PS5 so he’s still playing on that.

I downloaded a remote play, but can’t get it to pair with the PS5 and don’t know why.

I am not a gamer and not local so I can do a remote connection to the PC or arrange to go down, but he’s not going to want to give up us PS5 playing time over Christmas I suspect.

I was told Discord didn’t allow PS5 general chat but, did a search and now I am unsure as to whether it can or not or just specific PS5 games chat.

Treat me like a complete numpty please.

Downloaded Fortnite and Roblox, and he’s able to play then okay and use them.

1. Best way to get PS5 chat in a PC without a capture card.

2. How to trouble shoot the pairing if it doesn’t appear to be working. (Currently couldn’t pair PC with PS5) have managed to get his PS5 accounts working in the PC so not all bad.

Computer and PS5 have a hardwired internet net connection in You fibre, they don’t as far as I am aware have static ipv4 address but didn’t have much time to do too much when I was there at Christmas due playing family games and downloading updates and Fortnite.

They have TPLink plug to PS5 and PC, maybe this doesn’t help, I can run a cable direct to the router and put in a 1 gig switch which should be a little better.

The speed test on the PC was slower than I expected based on there subscription.
I will need to do some tests on this also.

Any info you need do ask but limited to what I can get until I am connected to the PC remotely or on site.

Also it’s running Norton parental control/ virus protection.

Thanks
Wayne

I thought Discord. That's the main gamers chat.

apparently discord doesnt allow PS% only folk to chat.... but I have no idea so was hoping someone could point us in right direction, its effectively a lump of parts all because he cant chat to his friends!

To update this:-

The game chat platforms should work regardless.
PS5 Party Chat, can be done on the PC as follows:-

Mobile phone emulator and log into playstation account via play station app.
Remote Play, but need to have the PS5 on and the PC on so pointless, may need a capture card to make this work well.

The best option to talk to all his PS5 friends is to have the playstation app on his phone or use the emulator so its on his PC and going through his PC headset.

Anyone comes up with anything thats missed please feel free to add.

Thank you

Cheers I was told it wouldn't, but i am not a gamer, in that it would work for some but not al (party chat) but I can try that as that is even more sensible, but finding someone that's done this is harder work...than I thought it would be....

Getting different systems to talk to each other is always hard.

It was easy on the Xbox lolz...

Discord has a 13 age limit.

the video, appears to be about adding discord to ps5 so you can chat on discord.

but doesnt appear to allow ps5 chat on ps5.

the mobile app works okay, so still have to look at getting the emulator or something on the pc.

got his internet speed up, rather than using the powerlinks, I put in a switch and a cable direct to router, shocking news the speed difference was mental, from 20mb, upto speed of their connection 150+ 7.5 times, that was an eye opener.

Hey Wayne! No worries, you're doing great with this.

First, Discord actually works natively on PS5 now! He just needs to link his Discord account to his PlayStation Network account through the settings, and he can chat directly with his PC friends from his console.

For Remote Play, Norton is likely blocking the local connection. Try adding Remote Play as an exception in Norton's firewall. Also, make sure both devices are on the exact same local network, as those TP-Link powerline plugs can sometimes create separate subnets. Good luck!

it his PS5 mates he wants to talk to on the PC.

so it would require all the ps5 mates to have discord on the PS5 and then to link his pc and and PS5 accounts.

Most of the games he can play on either platform to be fair
