Whats App

I am sure it is, and I am going to miss out by not being on it

we have had a massive change to a comittee I am on and they have decided 'Whats-Up' is the way forward - I am the only one without a smart phone, starting to wonder if I am the only person on the planet not to have one - lol
I think you may be.
You're missing out. The ability to do a quick Google search for something, to access a document, a QR code, an email, order from Screwfix etc and not to mention Maps for navigation is invaluable these days.

its worth pointing out that several live tv programs now allow you to message them live with whats app during the program
the actual messages will i expect go via the editing or production desk for filtering before being offered to the presenters

As I recall in order to get your Whats App For Windows you do need a smart phone to look at a QR code as part of the setup procedure.

Once set up it is useful on a PC to see new WA messages.

But I think it is somewhat limited as to what you can do with it on a PC.

My WhatsApp number is the same as my decades old pre smartphone Nokia number.
So you might be able to set it up with one of those, assuming you have one?

Trouble is, if you don't make use of it for a while, you have to use your phone, and the QR code, to login again.

No, it seems to do all that you can do on WA on a phone - just easier on a PC.

What’s app is a phone app which can be mirrored on a pc but not as a stand alone on computer .It needs a registered live phone number .

Not quite true. You need a phone with WA installed (to scan the QR code) but you can install it on a PC and use it even if you don't have your phone with you. From memory, you can run it in a browser on a PC.

True, but you cannot rely on being able to use it on the PC, unless you make regular use of it. Left unused, it logs you out, and you have to use the QR code to reconnect. I make irregular use of it on the PC, so the logging out, is a bit of a nuisance.

From memory, you can run it in a browser on a PC.

Maybe once, now it is a separate PC app.

Never said you can’t use it alone , just you need a phone number .

Or maybe borrow a smartphone, put in your mobile SIM, setup WhatsApp, then put everything back
