What's been eating my bathroom door?

There are four flight holes on either side of my bathroom door near the handle. The thing is - they are about four times the size of ordinary furniture beetle type woodworm. Any ideas?

The door is painted and about five years old and made of cheap pine.

4 0n each side near the lock sounds like you have taken the handle off

That's what I thought when I first saw it. I couldn't remember moving the handle or leaving the screw holes visible. Then I had a closer look and saw that they were just random.
