Both good drills, the Dewalt probably edges it as its a good drill only drawback is the low capacity bats.

The Makita is good value for money as they throw in the second 18V 6390, smaller than the 8390 so a good mix to have. I'd get the Makita.

I've got a makita 18v combi drill and I'm very happy with it.

Dewalt are good drills, however, Makita are just as powerful.

Also, the dewalt batteries cost a bit more, for future reference... So I say get the makita pair.

Close competition, but Makita always win on price. Dewalt are overpriced for what you get.

thanks for your replies.
I have gone for the makita pair.seems there isnt much between the makita 8390 and the dewalt so the free makita 6390 seems to make it the better deal.
