Gas tape is now normally used on iron pipework instead of Hemp & paste ( don`t ask) some gas fitters use it on copper fittings as well as gas paste, to be really sure. I normally trust in olives

you still use hemp and paste on black iron unless it's potable water then you wouldn't be using black iron anyway (ignore the dingbat)
gas tape is a different animal because it's sintered and thicker
and you do not use paste and tape as one defeats the object of using the other![]()
