thats as found

starts off as white pvc cable and ends up grey? oh sorry thats your camera :)

alright Smart arses had a busy day on callout and forgot my camera had to use my phone

1 Theres no cover plate or cable restraint on the connection unit

2 And if You look carefully you will notice the fool who connected the cooker up connected it up incorrectly hence the incorrect polarity L - N reverse

left side should be live with three links
Right side should be neutral with two links

Not sure all i can think is that internal wiring had gone due to the reverse polarity or one of the elements had gone but with the cooker connected it tripped the RCD with the cooker disconnected the RCD not trip

Yeh there was but it was switched on i just disconnected the cooker from the wall and put a cover plate over the connections and all was well then its the tenants responsibility to get the cooker repaired

Also that same fool used old coloured T+E to connect from the connection plate to the cooker, as the cable in the wall is in new colours

And what is wrong with that as long as there are warning labels present?

The fixed wiring in the wall is in new colours, but the cable from the wall plate to the cooker is in old colours

and?

there is no rules that say you must replace the wiring to a cooker if you get the kitchen rewired..

if it's an old cooker then why change the lead for it?

We seemed to manage for many, many years with the fixed wiring in the wall in old colours and the cable from the socket to the appliance in new colours....
