Not a strange job but I used to work for a Cathodic Protection company in Sydney and one of our routine checks were the harbour ferries, also the fuel tanks at Manly which involved getting a ride over on the Hydrofoil sitting next to the skipper.
Another was testing Robert Mugabes new private office, and the Queen & D of Es sleeping quarters for a state visit

Snow White counted the seven dwarfs as they left for work. She was left feeling dopey as she could only count to six.
