Can someone please tell me, do all downlights have to be firerated or or have fire hoods?

My understanding is that they don't need any fire proofing if they are situated between two levels of the same property, but if they are situated just below a loft where fire can spread to another property, then they do need to have some sort of fire protection.

your suppose to have a firewall between your loft and the neighbours. best advice on downlighters is dont fit them
